Matthew L. Harris

Of Counsel / Chattanooga

Matt is Of Counsel in the Chattanooga office of CSVL, and primarily practices as a member of the firm’s Healthcare Litigation practice group. Matt represents physicians, dentists, pharmacists, long-term care facilities, and hospitals in a wide variety of healthcare liability actions, regulatory issues, and professional matters. Matt has tried medical and dental malpractice lawsuits to verdict in state and federal courts, and understands the value of an efficient, well-executed defensive litigation strategy.  He also practices as a member of the firm’s Professional Liability and Trucking & Transportation practice groups, where he has a demonstrated record of obtaining summary judgment and complete dismissal of claims filed against his clients.

Prior to joining CSVL, he was an associate attorney at a Chattanooga area-boutique firm where his practice was devoted entirely to insurance defense litigation.  Matt is also licensed in Mississippi, where for several years he litigated complex medical malpractice cases involving allegations of improper patient care, medication errors, misdiagnoses, birth defects, and wrongful death.

Matt earned his J.D. from Mississippi College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and received a number of academic and pro bono honors. Matt received his undergraduate degree from Austin Peay State University, where he was awarded the Governor’s Pride Leadership Award in 2008.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys hiking, camping, and coaching his children’s soccer teams.  Matt lives in Signal Mountain, Tennessee with daughter, Madeline, and twin sons, Walker and Reed.
