Matt is a partner in the Chattanooga office of CSVL, where his practice spans a wide-variety of litigation including general liability, construction, employment, and trucking and transportation.  Matt defends clients in an array of issues, ranging from general liability claims to complex, multi-party construction disputes, and commercial transportation matters involving property damage and physical injury claims against trucking companies and their employees.

Matt is also equipped with significant experience in advising and representing clients in day-to-day labor and employment issues that develop in an array of businesses and industries and subsequently defending them in litigation, should it arise. This includes handling various EEOC Charges ranging from gender and race discrimination to age-related charges in multiple states, creating and revising employee handbooks, and counseling on the intricacies of the FLSA and its overtime provisions.

Representing a range of clients, from large corporations to locally owned businesses, Matt develops creative and actionable strategies to ensure each outcome addresses his clients’ litigation and business goals. His emphasis on cultivating personal relationships with clients and straightforward, practical advice ensures that each client receives personalized, meaningful counsel. Matt recently navigated and advised his client to a full dismissal of 1 million dollar claim by general contractor on State funded project asserting breach of contract and construction defect claims.

A Chattanooga native, Matt received his J.D. from The University of Tennessee College of Law after graduating from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  Matt served as Research Editor of the Tennessee Law Review and also enjoyed valuable experience with the Tennessee Attorney General’s office and as a judicial clerk prior to practicing in Chattanooga. Matt is deeply involved and supportive of his community, providing leadership and service to several local boards and organizations including the Rotary Club of Chattanooga, UTC Alumni Board, and the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Chattanooga Bar Association. In his free time, he enjoys running, Tennessee Volunteer football, reading, and creating new recipes with his wife, Hannah.
