Brenten DeShields is an associate in the Charleston office. He focuses his practice on General Liability, Insurance Coverage & Bad Faith, and Construction litigation.

Prior to joining CSVL, Brent practiced litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, including areas such as professional malpractice, corporate and contractual disputes, insurance coverage, personal injury, and construction defect, and served as a Staff Attorney for the Supreme Court of South Carolina. Brent is experienced with managing litigation cases from inception through trial and appeal.

Brent graduated cum laude from the University of Richmond in 2018 with a degree in Psychology before attending the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 2021. During law school, Brent was in the prestigious Order of the Wig and Robe, on the Dean’s List over four semesters, and he was research editor for the South Carolina Journal of International Law & Business. He completed an externship with the Honorable Judge Childs of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and received CALI Awards in Constitutional Law and Trial Advocacy.
