Construction Litigation
Our Construction Litigation group is proud to have represented clients in the construction industry for more than 25 years. This focus on the construction industry has allowed the group to develop the experience needed to provide solid counsel, advice and representation with respect to the many issues that arise from the construction process.
The Copeland, Stair, Valz & Lovell construction group represents architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, and insurers involving a myriad of complex issues. Our decades-long construction-specific focus has resulted in a group of highly experienced attorneys who are able to provide solid counsel, advice, and representation with respect to all aspects of the construction process. Our construction practice includes several subgroups adept at providing our clients issue-specific advice.
One of the hallmarks of our construction practice group is defending design professionals in both non-litigation and litigation matters. We provide a complete range of services including contract review and preparation, navigating clients through difficult situations that arise during construction projects, and representing design professionals when claims are asserted during or after the completion of a construction project. We help shelter our design professional clients from litigation whenever possible with our pre-claim assistance, and defend them vigorously when lawsuits and other claims are not preventable. Kent Stair is Chair of this Design Professional group with Melissa Bailey as Co-Chair.
A primary focus of the Construction Litigation group has always been helping construction professionals through the litigation process. Members of the group handle litigation in all of the trial and appellate courts in Georgia and South Carolina. Members of the group have effectively handled virtually every type of construction case ranging from those involving a few thousand dollars to disputes over tens of millions of dollars.
Our Construction Litigation Group encompasses the following practice areas:
- Construction Defect
- Construction Insurance
- Design Professional
- Environmental Litigation
